Nabeel Ahmed

Senior Program Officer, Open North

    Nabeel Shakeel Ahmed is a Senior Programme Officer at Open North, part of the Advisory Service that provides support and guidance on open smart cities to communities across Canada. He works directly with municipal public servants that are developing and implementing smart city projects and initiatives, engaging expert advisors and partners. He is also a member of the Digital Communities Advisory Panel at the Centre for Free Expression at Ryerson University. He has a background in social entrepreneurship, community engagement, social innovation, and international development.
    Nabeel has a Masters in Environmental Studies at York University, specializing in urban planning, where his research focused on big data and urban planning. He previously completed a Certificate in Public Policy and Administration at Ryerson University in Toronto, as well as a Bachelors in Business Administration (honors) at the Institute of Business Administration in Karachi, Pakistan.
    Nabeel currently serves on the board of the Tessellate Institute and was selected as an Aga Khan Foundation Canada Fellow in 2013-2014.
